University Of Oxford
The Integration Point:
The Classroom (presential, on-site or virtual)
The UMV:
Getting a Profession or Degree or the Stamp on Your Resume along with getting a Safe And Secure Job for some & get the social respect and recognition for 'Being Somebody' (And there's much, much more. This is just a piece of the pie...)
Why:
This Integration Marketing spot is so common, simple and obvious that once I reveal it, you will get one of those moments when you ask "why I didn't think about this before".
Yet, this has to be one of the most ingenious inventions of all time (and it dates back to 345 BC!) where the full possibilities to profit from this model are still unexploited.
Question: How much time, money and energy you invested over your life just to get your 'formal' education?
If by any chance you attended Kinder Garden at an early age and went trough the entire school process just to get your degree at the University of your choice, chances are you spent more than 20 years of your life... and if by any chance you have children(s) now multiply this years by the number of kids you have. After all you want them to get an education right? (a natural word of mouth effect)
The beauty of this Integration Spotting example is that it happens over and over again, it is already hard-wired in every family who will eventually send their kids to get the same 'software' installed in their child's brain.
Then the educational system takes care of the rest at the end of every school period, using it as an Integration Point to 'sell' your next glass of water (aka your next required semester)
Each certificate or legal document you get on any form to prove that you have completed each step of the system is the UMV you are looking for.
As you progress you collect a series of UMV's that will eventually grant you the right to get your degree or official profession.
That's just concerning the knowledge part; I haven't even mentioned the material you'll need to buy during your formal education such as uniforms, books, computers and other related stuff to meet all the required tools to consider yourself suited to learn.
Is there a better continuity program than that?
We are talking about a multi-billionaire business here where schools are using what I call "Knowledge Integration Marketing" to keep entire families and governments investing on the education of each new generation of professionals.
And that's just for starters, most of these persons will look to spend their precious time, money and energy working in a safe-secure-job and eventually, as they look to get paid more, they will spend even more time, money and energy getting a higher education in the form of masters, PhD and others such as continuing education, seminars, coaching programs, etcetera.
An entire book could be written about the potential of this simple concept and chances are that I probably will.
The hidden psychological triggers behind this marketing model are so many and there are also other elements I haven't even mentioned here, but since I have my hands tied (I am trying to get this Marketing Spotting as short as possible to comply with the rules of this amazing opportunity that Mark is making possible for all of us) please excuse me for not sharing some of these secrets.
This concept is so powerful yet so obvious and natural that most people don't realize the insane potential on using Knowledge Integration Marketing in their business, especially today where the information age it's still on its infancy.
I am really considering to write a book on the entire subject so I can share this knowledge with you, but in the meantime, as I implement this knowledge & strategy into my own business to walk the talk and write on experience rather that just theory, I hope this Integration Marketing Spotting made something pop up in the back of your mind so you can apply it immediately into your own business.
All the Best,
Peter Palatnik
CEO & Founder Of BoxedBrains.com
P.S.1 Dear Mark, if you feel that your upcoming best-seller could benefit from a more detailed version of the concept I am sharing here, it would be an honor to improve and polish this unknown knowledge, yet to be exploited on the Internet, and add even more value to your next book.
(Just for the record, you are actually one of the few lonely exceptions, since Simpleology has implemented part of this integration model so beautifully.
P.S.2 Sorry for the length of this post! I did my best to keep it as short as possible, but I am so excited and overwhelmed with all the information I have on the subject, that I really had a hard time to keep it short.

Here's a spotting that is very versatile and all about automated integration marketing.
http://www.trialpay.com/
The Integration Point:
Transaction Stream integration at your checkout, it's an alternative form of payment that may increase your sales. Test it, though.
"Place the TrialPay payment option everywhere customers exit without purchasing and anywhere else you want to increase conversion (e-mails, Website, in-product, trial upgrades, etc...).
"TrialPay matches your customers with offers from brands they already have an affinity for, such as Gap, eBay or FTD. A customer chooses an advertiser offer and gets your product for free.
"TrialPay pays you a Cost Per Acquisition (CPA) from the advertiser that often exceeds your regular price, and your asking price is always guaranteed for every transaction."
PLUS: As an advertiser you can get your product in front of the eyeballs of people who want to get something else for free. People you would most likely never be able to reach any other way.
The UMV:
You integrate the trialpay button on your checkout site or you integrate your offer into the trialpay system.
Why:
This allows you to generate a sale from an indecicive prospect, the website says up to 15% more sales. You can use it in various ways in your different approaches to convert prospects into customers. You go the extra mile in service to the customer offering your product for free. Your product and brand are perceived by the customer in unison with some big name businesses. As an advertiser you can get your offer in front of people who are in the process of buying, an automated cross-and-upsell-system. Definitely worth testing on stable, working offers.
Get lots done

Fellow Integraters,
The Integration Point that I would like to share with you is in reference to
website traffic and point of sale transaction streams.
The UMV is: no cost / low cost website traffic plus web analytics with the
training to make it all understandable and actionable for new to intermediate
level internet marketers.
My name is Mark Edward Brown and together with my business partner (Dan Moses)
after reading Integration Marketing, we instantly put in place a plan to integrate our service (web analytics plus training) with other traffic generation sites that we own. Not only that but we were able to put our "thank you" offer on other program owners thank you pages and integrate them into our traffic generation network of sites.
The results were not just impressive, they were astounding; after the first week of integration on our sites alone we received about 45 clients, then at the 14 day point when we were just getting our partners integrated we saw a spike in activity of double our previous weeks activity 45 more clients. The best part is as of this writing we have been into the integration process for 3 weeks (21 days) and we now have a total of 200 new clients and growing daily!

Integration Point: Traffic and Transaction Streams Integration Points.
UMVs: The Unit of Marketing Value is air travel ticket and vacation packages.
Here is how it works. My cousin owns and runs Motherland Food Market- a grocery store that serves the African population in the Dallas Forth Worth Metroplex in Texas with a large concentration of Nigerians. He has a loyal and supportive customer base. There are also customers from Ghana, Senegal, Liberia, Ethiopia, Gambia, South Africa, Kenya and others.
I work with him on a part time basis and one of the things that happens is that customers call in wanting to know where they can buy air ticket and prepare their taxes during tax season. These are a traveling people. Some travel a couple of times each year.
To take advantage of this traffic stream, I have recently signed up with Unselfish Wealth, a marketing arm of Travellencia to sell Air Ticket and Travel/Vacation packages to our customers. In due course, I also intend to integrate into this traffic stream, a tax preparation service.
I think this would be a perfect integration because there is a strong customer trust and loyalty that has developed over time.

The Integratio0n Point here is the transaction stream of a funded proposal its a simple $9dollar solution. That allows a new business owner a way to pay his advertising with no out of pocket costs while solving a cash flow problem at the same time ..Allowing him to integrate an ad co-op or a back end product in one move
the UMV ...is the funded proposal itself., while allowing a new business owner a way to overcome a cash flow problem and also sell any of his own products at the same time or introduce an mlm on the back..
I believe its very important for new business owners to have a way to bring front money to grow they're business. The opportunities with a funded proposal are endless..

helping others will always reward you with the help you need.....thanks Mark

As a solo indie musician I was having a hard time selling my music and merchandise on the interweb, although I put some hard work in setting up stores and a decent web presence.
Just as I was about to throw in the towel, I got into contact with this choreographer, and he kind of lured me into this contemporary dance project, which I can proudly say is my job right now, being a performing artist...as a dancer...
Well he asked me to audition my music, and now he's thinking about having my music arranged for two pianos or quatre mains, as people say in the language of classical music...
Besides that, one fine day my choreographer called me up and asked if I would like a grant from a royal foundation here in my country...I just needed to change gears some and become a social musician...so if all goes well, I'll be booked into the studio for seven whole days, for creating a four song demo that will be shopped to venue holders and theaters by my choreographer..
Now isn't that some neat integration marketing story?...and it's all thanks to Mark somehow!

http://www.fastcompany.com/blog/shel-horowitz/innovation-mimics-nature-can-lead-amaaing-things
The Integration Point:
(was it a traffic stream or a transaction stream? describe it briefly)
A "pardigm stream": letting human beings mimic natural-world approaches: diversity instead of monoculture, cooperation instead of competition, mimicing innovations by different species (or market segments)
The UMV:
(describe it briefly) Innovation is invention plus a market--and can cross disciplines. the more complex a system, the more innovation AND the higher resistance to meltdown
Why:
(tell us why you think it's exceptionally interesting - keep it to one short paragraph please)
Although Joel Barker, who presented this material in the most important speech I've heard in years, is not a marketer--I found within his research a framework that explains so much: why JVs are successful, why the dotcom boom fell apart, how we can harness processes "stolen" from the natural world to move forward in quantum leaps--and why innovation tends to happen and the borders between ecosystems--or industries--so you can, for example, harness inkjet technology both to distribute topical medicines and to create low-cost extruded concrete housing.

Nope, it's not an Integration Spotting of a wrestling match in Godiva chocolate fudge! We're talking about WWE's Diva, Candice Michelle, that's integrated into GoDaddy's site as one of 'GoDaddy's Girls' promoting their products.
Title: WWEDaddy + GoDiva = ?
Link: http://www.godaddy.tv/candice_photo.aspx
The Integration Point: Godaddy.com
The UMV: WWE Diva, Candice
Why: Bob Parson, CEO of GoDaddy uses the classic yet controversial 'sex to sell' advertising using the popular wrestling entertainment brand WWE and it's sex bomb diva, Candice Michele to get massive attention (and traffic) to his site.
GoDaddy, well known for its racy Super Bowl[R] commercials, has proved that the integration marketing of WWE's Candice has come to fruition by being voted The Best Registrar in 2007; a survey done by Domain Name Wire.

The Integration Point: a credit card terminal at a retail PetSmart location.
The UMV: a $1 donation to help homeless pets.
What makes this such a great example is that the upsell is integrated right into the credit card terminal's menu, so just before you complete your transaction, a simple, yet powerful question:
The power is in how easy it is for the customer to pay for the UMV. The customer only has to spend a few seconds reading a question, and then must answer YES or NO, and he's done.
This particular example of integration marketing is successful for three reasons: the store's credibility, it's for a good cause, and it's so inexpensive, most customers won't even feel the pain of spending an extra dollar.

Title: Wal-Mart Goes Chinese
Link: http://walmartchina.com
The Integration Point: China
The UMV: Wal-Mart
Why: Wal-Mart, an American public corporation that runs a chain of large, discount department stores and also world's largest public corporation by revenue (according to the 2008 Fortune Global 500) ventures out to China. With more than 70 stores now in China, it is one of the more successful Wal-Mart operations outside of USA.

Quick... Who's jingle is this?
(If nothing played, try this:
http://www.uspto.gov/go/kids/soundex/75332744.mp3 )
Intel Inside has to be the most widely recognized example of Integration Marketing following its long-running "Intel Inside" campaign. The campaign, which started in 1991, was created by Intel marketing manager Dennis Carter. The five-note jingle was introduced the following year and by its tenth anniversary was being heard in 130 countries around the world.
The Intel Inside program was supportive of advertisers and further served to broaden the company's awareness as a key ingredient inside PCs. Intel paid some of the advertiser's costs for an ad that used the "Intel Inside" logo. If the ads did not meet agreed upon requirements, Intel was not obligated to reimburse costs. PC companies advertising products containing Intel chips include the jingle in their film and television advertisements in order to receive the reimbursement.
Brilliant Integration Marketing in action.

Title: More4you.ws Blogletter Unsubscribe confirmation page offer...
Link: http://More4you.ws
The Integration Point: This is a Traffic Stream as it's seen by subscribers once they unsubscribe from the Blogletter.
The UMV: On the unsubscribe confirmation page we recommend an Anti-Spam product using our affiliate link.
Why: It monetizes on otherwise dead Internet real estate and are dead on target... after all they unsubscribed to receive less emails, so they are in an urgent need for a tool like Anti-Spam product recommended. :)

Title: ViralURL Login Page, Login Error & Logout Page Integration...
Link: http://ViralURL.com/login.php & http://ViralURL.com/logout.php
The Integration Point: This is a Traffic Stream as it's seen by free and paid members after they joined and every time they use our system (many use it every other day).
The UMV: On the login page we recommend another of our sites... on the login error page of course RoboForm using our affiliate link and on the logout page we rotate on a daily base through different high converting affiliate links.
Why: It monetizes on otherwise dead Internet real estate and especially the login error page is dead on target... after all they couldn't login because they forgot or mistyped they login details and have an urgent need for a tool like RoboForm. :)

You go to Google maps to look up an address, and you notice links on the left for McCain and Obama.
What's that? You can trace their "journeys"? Wow. I wonder where that'll take me. Click...and then you get to watch a "video" of their journey from birth to the present bid for the White House.
Oh, but where's the integration you ask? Well, look again on the left and notice this:
This feature was not created by Google. Information you enter below may become available to the feature's provider.

A subtle, but clever way to generate interest in and traffic to a website or blog...not to mention having information become available to the provider.

Check out Dell computers website (www.dell.co.uk) and you will see its harmonious relationship with Windows Vista.
You will see in several of its pages about Products, the lines "Dell recommends Windows Vista® Home Premium" or "Dell recommends Windows Vista® Business."
Under Software Support page, you will find a link for Windows Vista. On that page you will see:
"Enjoy the benefits of Microsoft's new Windows Vista Operating System fast and hassle free.
We will help you, step by step, upgrade your PC to the new version of Windows Vista without you worrying: "How do I do that?".
If you prefer service in your own home, we can also schedule a visit from one of our Technicians to perform the upgrade on your behalf."
I honestly think this is one good example of Integration Marketing. It's subtle yet very effective. When I think of Dell computers, I also think of Windows Vista.

Title:CSI and Integration Marketing
The Integration Point:
CSI teaches an dynamic approach to practical marketing application for any program. It is a membership website.
Each member (Fr e e and paid) get a blog space on the website. This is a community blog. Each person has his or her own blog. Each blog contains a 'natural' 1st level link to every other blog. Each time any one posts a blog the Search Engines are pinged. When they come to spider that blog, they follow 1st level links. This gives every other blog a 'gratis' crawl. The more posts, the higher the frequency of 'spidering' resulting in a greater number of SE indexing. This brings everyone blog more page rank attention and more traffic.
The UMV:
Everyone can join. Those who have a high traffic website or list can also be included in a permanent link on every blog and in every eBook given away on the CSI website. The link will be placed in the blog 'skin' or 'theme' to insure that every blog created will carry the link.
Why:
Blog marketing is very dynamic. Search engines index blogs very quickly. This also increases link popularity ranking.

Found this while watching "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" on TV or at http://www.millionairetv.com
The integration points are on the the Television show when a contestant uses the "Ask the Expert" lifeline. It also is branded on the main page of the web site.
The integration happens when the contestant uses the "Ask the Expert" lifeline and a head shot of the expert along with a large logo of Skype appears below them (in addition to a mention of the product).
This crafty bit of integration caught my attention as I was flipping through the channels and briefly stop on "Who wants to be a Millionaire" to see what question was going to be asked. As the young lady struggled to figure out the answer she used her remaining lifeline of "Ask the Expert" to get some help. Although the "Expert" was on no use for the question the fact that she was in a graphic that was branded with the Skype logo caught my attention.
The Millionaire game show is definitely a "high traffic" point for an insertion. The branding of the "Skype video call" to the viewers who are already comfortable with that medium, being video not television, is pure genius on Skype's part.

One of the best form of integration marketing that I come across often is the integration between a real estate agent ,mortgage brokers and moving company. When someone wants to buy a property they look for a realtor who also provides them details about the mortgage broker and a moving company.
This type of integration marketing offers a complete solution for a someone interested in buying a new home.
The relationship between the realtor, mortgage broker and moving company can be commission based or referral based but it is a solid integration marketing concept.

Their adsense program is an obvious integration marketing strategy. But the genius is not that Google is being integrated. It is the advertisers who are getting a unit of marketing value in each of the website that they appear on.
What Google has done is become the middle man of integration marketing. They essentially provide a platform where people with integration points (i.e. websites that want to display ads) can connect with people who will pay for the privilege of being integrated into someone else's website.
Google serves as the middle man and controls everything. Very very smart indeed.

This is a great example of integration marketing and word of mouth marketing combined.
Circular Strength Training is a new training modality that has gained prominence in the US.
What many people do not know is that it has been around for 15 years.
My prediction is that the integration of CST into a large gym chain like Equinox is going to exponentially grow their exposure and word of mouth.
Other gym chains will soon follow suit.
It is possible that in the future we will start seeing exclusive exercise programs that are only offered in selected gyms, creating a specialization within the fitness industry.
The true gains in this partnership is definitely in the backend, further DVDs for training, equipment specific instruction with Equinox in the background, posters for training programs within the Equinox gym that drives further membership into the programs. There are just literally hundreds of transactional streams that can be created once a person sets foot into the gym.
Not to mention that by integrating with a gym, CST gets free publicity whenever Equinox runs their ads or gains a new client.
It is a beautiful relationship.
Hoe Bing
http://www.flowacademy.com.au
Many people think that integration is all about getting your products into other people's systems or funnels.
However, another powerful way to use integration is by putting your other products and services in the buyers path at strategic times throughout the experience.
The other day, I experienced this type of integration and here's what happened.
I stopped by the gas station as usual to fill the tank. So I entered my credit card into the pump and the first thing that it asked me was if I wanted a car wash.
Not just any car wash, but the car wash of choice out of 3 different levels.
This is the best place to offer the car wash because all they had to do was add it to the total since they already have your credit card information.
If you think about it, you don't usually go to a gas station just for a car wash. You go to the car wash for a car wash.
However, they know that since you're already there and your card is already processed, the chances are real good that you will go on and get the car wash too, even if you didn't go there wanting one in the first place.
So there you have it, even gas stations use integration marketing at the pump, let alone everything else within the station itself.

This is a subtle yet very effective use of integration marketing. FedEx gets to put up a logo and link, and they're just part of the ordering process for musicians on the Sweetwater site.
It's not in your face, yet it's right there in front of your face. And their logo sort of "burns" into your memory banks.
With the shipping options out there, they made a good decision to "link up" with a great musical equipment company and got some "free" ads in the process.
Tony Funderburk

The Integration Point:
Our desktop application (Sandvox), a web-publishing program, at the point they may need to find an internet hosting provider. I would categorize this as a transaction stream.
The UMV:
Direct, affiliate links from our web-publishing application to partner Internet Service Providers.
Why:
Most integration points I have seen have been on websites or email messages. This is an example of integration marketing directly within a desktop application, with the integration point being at the moment when the user may need to choose an internet hosting provider.

Here's an insanely profitable Integration Marketing case study that brings in billions for the MTV Network.
The Integration Point is at MTV's channel networks.
The UMV is the artistes' music videos.
Artistes gain exposure and popularity when they have their music videos aired (MTV has been named by young adults aged 12-34 as the MOST recognized network).
MTV, being the #1 Media Brand in the world that reaches 387 million households worldwide, profits by selling advertising space.

An upscale dry cleaner in Memphis, Tennessee, Bensinger's Fine Cleaners wanted to boost its shirt laundry service and pick up and delivery service. They printed personalized gift certificates with the names of 3 prominent high end men's clothing stores, offering 2 free dry cleanings when they purchased a shirt from the retailer. The retailer benefits by giving a value added service for the purchase of the shirt, and the dry cleaner benefits by picking up new customers in its high end target market.
